Welcome to Churchgate, a popular and well developed area in downtown South Mumbai. This place is also known as Veer Nariman Street. Between the 18th and 19th century, Mumbai city had walls around it and these walls had three major gates. Churchgate, being one of those gates, was named after the St. Thomas Cathedral in Mumbai.

In the late 19th century, the walls were brought down for expansion and since then, Churchgate has been ever developing and ever beautiful. 2. Veg Cheese Roll – Raju Sandwich Stall

Raju sandwich stall is very popular amongst the students and working crowd here and so we thought we would give it a try. And trust us, we were not disappointed. We tried the veg cheese roll, which is absolutely delicious. The sub-bun was grilled to make it slightly crispy, and the roll was stuffed with a succulent filling. A true Indian street food, this roll had a unique chatpata taste with the perfect mix of spices, and a tangy after taste. Our verdict? A must try!

Star Roll has some really tasty, street side snacks to offer. We tried the schezwan cheese roll and really liked it. Delicious and spicy, the roll has a strong masala taste and is topped with lots of cheese that melts in your mouth.

This street side stall fries some really delicious, hot and fresh bhajjis with their aloo bhajjis being the best of the lot. The aloo dipped in besan (flour) is fried to perfection, which makes it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These mouth-watering bhajjis are then served either with masala sprinkled on top or along with pav.

The dabeli served here is a true Mumbai street side food; yummy, yet not heavy on the pocket. The soft, buttery bun filled with all the ingredients makes it really delicious, and a must try if you happen to crave for some street food in Churhgate.

At the side of a busy road is a small street side stall where you can find some lip-smackingly delicious pav bhaji. Rich in flavor and topped with butter, this pav bhaji is everything done right. The pav is soft, and when dipped in bhaji, makes for an amazing combination. For a humble street side stall such as this, the pav bhaji definitely is a yummy surprise!

A soft base that almost melts into your mouth, scrummy toppings and loads of cheese – this pan pizza has it all! It has onion, capsicum, tomato, and pizza sauce mixed with surprising pudina chutney to give you the authentic Indianised pizza we all love.

8. Bubblegum Candy Floss – Papa Cream

As the name suggests, this bubblegum flavored ice cream is topped with a string of candy floss. The candy floss is light in texture, and is not overwhelmingly sweet. However, the bubblegum flavor seems to have been lost in the ice cream. If not for the bubblegum flavor, the ice cream is smooth, infused with ice crystals which give it a slightly crunchy nature, and frothy. Our verdict? Given the satisfaction levels, this isn’t worth the price.
